Ik-Whan G. Kwon, Ph.D

Ik-Whan G. Kwon, Ph.D, is a Professor of Operations Management at the John Cook School of Business, St. Louis University. He serves as Academic Advisor on MS in Supply Chain Management Program. Dr. Kwon is also a Founding Director  of the Center for Supply Chain Management Studies at the John Cook School of Business since 1998 and currently serves as Director Emeritus since July 2016. He received his BA. in Economics from Korea University and first Ph.D degree in Economics from University of Georgia. His second Ph.D degree in Health Service Research was awarded in 1990 from the School of Public Health, St. Louis University. In 2002, Dr. Kwon was a Fulbright Scholar to Korea Development Institute (KDI) School of Public Policy and Management and Yonsei University both in Seoul, Korea. He is a recipient of the National Defense Transportation Association Distinguished Educator Award in 2006 and 2007. Dr. Kwon is also a recipient of the 2006 Thomas M. Knapp, S.J., Distinguished Faculty Member Award form St. Louis University. Dr. Kwon received his second Fulbright Senior Grant to Korea in 2009 where he taught at the KDI School of Public Policy and Management. He received the 2011 and 2016 Outstanding Professor of Graduate Program from St. Louis University. He received the National Science Foundation Oversea Scholar Award in 1977 teaching at Yonsei University in Korea. He is a recipient of the 2012 Chairman’s Commendation on Product Safety Circle from the United States Product Safety Commission for his dedication to product safety in supply chain management. He is also recipient of Research Grants on Donor’s Perception of Healthcare Supply Chain Operations in 2014 and Business Analytics in Supply chain in 2016  funded both by LMI Foundation

Dr. Kwon is one of the founding members of the Center for Supply Chain Management Studies in 1998 and assumed the role of Directorship of the Center since its inception.  Dr. Kwon has published more than 125 academic articles and professional papers in numerous journals including Journal of Supply Chain Management, Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management, New England Journal of Medicine, American Journal of Medical Association, American Journal of Public Health, Journal of Logistics and others. He served on various charitable and governmental boards including Board of Director, Missouri Enterprise, Missouri Minority Health Care Task Force, St. Louis Regional Health Center, Creve Coure Personal Appeal Committee, Member of National Defense Transportation Association Scholarship Committee, etc.

He serves on the Editorial Board of Information Systems and Supply Chain Management, Member of Editorial Board of International  Journal of Business Innovation and Research,
