Don Imholz

Board Member

Mr. Imholz is founder and CEO of Don Imholz and Associates, focused on provided strategic consulting to a broad range of companies and leaders.   He is advising start-ups on how to scale, and established companies on risks and opportunities. Don is involved with a diverse set of in entities in industries including financial services, software development, utilities, manufacturing, HR services, logistics, education, and healthcare.  He is a frequent speaker on leadership, transformation, digitization, agile, and project management.  

Don currently serves as a Board Advisor to Unigroup, Inc.; and has served on the boards of several non-profits.  He currently serves on the Board for Family Forward, chairs the Leadership Council for the University of Missouri – St. Louis (UMSL) Business School, on the St. Louis CIO Board, on the Advisory Council for the Sever School for the Washington University Engineering School, and on the Washington University External Advisory Board on Information Technology (IT).  

Mr. Imholz retired from Centene year-end 2015.  He joined Centene in 2008 and served as EVP, Operations and CIO. He supported the Company’s business growth from $3B to $21B+ in 7 years, moving it from a niche to industry-leader position, and helping it become a leader in digital engagement, business analytics, and cybersecurity.  He also led Centene from virtually having no online presence to an industry-leading and award-winning online capability by developing and implementing a digital strategy, creating client portals and mobile apps.

Before Centene, Mr. Imholz worked for McDonnell Douglas and then The Boeing Company in diverse executive roles in management, finance, manufacturing, engineering, and technology. Returning to IT at the time of the merger with McDonnell Douglas, he was a key contributor to the consolidation of the two companies, and, post- merger, advanced to being the CIO for all of Boeing Defense and Space, a $30B entity.   He ultimately led all of application development and support for Boeing on a global basis, leading a 5,000+ people organization and a $1b+ budget, before taking early retirement.

Don earned a BSBA from the UMSL, then a Master in Information Systems and lastly an Executive MBA from Washington University.  Mr. Imholz has been recognized by the Washington University Olin Business School as one of its Distinguished Alumni.  He was adjunct faculty member at Webster University for 10+ years, and has been a frequent guest lecturer at various schools.   Don is an Honorary Member of Beta Gamma Sigma – the business honor society.  He continues to be an active learner and enjoys reading, writing, and traveling, as well as golf.   He is particularly passionate about applying his 40 years of experience to help companies in the St. Louis region grow and prosper, in order to provide future opportunities for his children and grandchildren.
